Hyundai Elantra Models Up for Canadian Car of the Year

The Canadian Car of the Year Awards are some of the most prestigious automotive accolades in this great country of ours, as they are given to a model year’s top autos based on tests performed by Canadian journalists on Canadian roads. That means the results are fine-tuned to the sensibilities of the people who may actually buy these vehicles in and around Airdrie, AB.

In fact, as your Calgary, AB Hyundai dealership we were especially pleased here at Country Hills Hyundai to see that two Hyundai models were named finalists in their respective segments: the 2017 Hyundai Elantra (Best New Small Car) and 2017 Hyundai Elantra Sport (Best New Sports/Performance Car).

There are a number of reasons why these vehicles would have been selected, some of which include the high-quality interiors of the cars, the quiet and comfortable cabins (even at higher speeds), the sheer volume of slick modern technologies made available to customers, and of course the efficient engines that lie under the hood.

The 2017 Hyundai Elantra Sport, meanwhile, gets a direct-injection, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine to provide the model with a little extra boost, while there are also are a handful of other hardware enhancements to increase performance.

Winners of these segments will be announced in the coming weeks, and we’re looking forward to seeing if one or both of them ends up taking home the hardware. Both are excellent vehicles worthy of the accolade, but only time will tell if they do end up winning. Either way, their nominations prove their value to Canadian drivers, and we invite you to come test drive either any time to see for yourself what the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada already have discovered.
