The 2015 Hyundai H350 large van has been uncovered at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Hanover, Germany.
The new Hyundai van, which will rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Renault Master and Ford Transit, among others, will sit above the iLoad and iMax models in some markets, with a focus on Europe in particular, but it looks unlikely to be sold here in the short term.
Hyundai Australia public relations general manager Bill Thomas said the company has not yet received any indication that the van will be made to suit the Australian market.
“They haven’t told us whether or not it will be engineered in right-hand drive at the moment,” Thomas said. “Theoretically it would be a good addition to the commercial fleet. As with all international reveals, we’re always interested in looking how they’d fit in the local market, but there’s no indication whether we will be able to get it here or not.”
In terms of its size, the H350 has a cargo area measuring 12.9 cubic metres, which the South Korean brand claims is enough to swallow five standard European pallets. There are 14 tie-down points in the load bay and the H350 is fitted with a standard steel bulkhead to keep the driver and front passengers insulated from noise and/or loose items.
The layout of the van includes rear barn doors that open up to 270 degrees and a sliding side door. No interior images have been released (only the teaser illustration above), but a release from the brand suggests the van will be offered with a multi-function steering wheel, a stereo system with CD, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity, and a 4.2-inch LCD display in between the instrument gauges. An optional Android-based infotainment system is also set to be offered with satellite navigation.
